Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Carlisle and District Credit Union Ltd Job Description 37 Hours per week £40,000 per annum The CEO will lead the strategic and operational management of the Credit Union on behalf of the Board of Directors, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and financial requirements. The role includes promoting financial inclusion, developing community relationships and maintaining the self-sustainability of the organisation. Responsibilities:

Proactively support the Board of Directors in the creation and delivery of its vision, strategy and business planning. Maintain a good working knowledge of the Financial Services Industry as it relates to the Credit Union movement, including the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), the Financial Services Authority (FCA) and the ACE Trade Body. Attend and participate in the monthly Board Meeting, delivering a written monthly progress report, identifying any areas of importance or concern, including risk management. Take responsibility for implementing initiatives to strengthen and enhance credit union growth and sustainability. Prepare and support the functions of the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Represent the Credit Union at events and meetings in a professional manner. Oversee compliance with all financial and legal standards including the timely completion of returns to the PRA, FCA, Equifax and the external auditors. Prepare comprehensive reports for monthly board meetings, the AGM and any grant monitoring reporting required. Implement and monitor robust financial controls and risk management practices. Ensure the delivery of exceptional member services and operational efficiency. Drive innovation by adopting modern digital tools and technologies. Oversee IT and data security compliance, safeguarding member data. Ensure a regular board and staff review of all policies and procedures, amending and creating new policies as required. Act as the public face of the Credit Union, presenting a professional persona while being approachable and well-informed. Understand the communities served by the Credit Union and champion financial inclusion and community services to address economic disparities. Develop processes and practices that measure the social impact of the Credit Union. Lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion, including regular staff supervisions and appraisals. Oversee recruitment, training and development initiatives to build organisational capacity. Ensure all staff are trained to meet regulatory and service delivery standards, including safeguarding requirements for staff and members. Qualifications:

Proven leadership experience within financial services or community-focused organisations. Strong knowledge of PRA/FCA regulations and governance standards. Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and foster innovation. Excellent communication skills, including written skills, such as report writing. Excellent people management skills. Ability to analyse data and present it in a meaningful way. The CEO must demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of the Credit Union, always putting members first, prioritising financial inclusion and the long-term sustainability of the organisation. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with vision, who can drive the credit union forward and is passionate about improving the financial health and well-being of the local community. The successful applicant will be required to provide a DBS before taking up the post.
