The post holder will have lead responsibility for managing the Waste Contract and the management of the on-site waste team responsible for operational management of waste services. They will provide specialist expertise on all aspects of waste management inclusive of recycling and sustainable development issues.
Be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Trust's Waste policies and strategy.
Be responsible for the development and delivery of all reuses, reduce and recycle projects, providing advice on standards and issues relating to recycling targets and WAG strategy.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Waste and Environment legislation and government programmes. Liaise with other related specialist disciplines throughout the Trust where appropriate on issues, which will affect sustainability, waste and recycling management/performance.

Arrange required DGSA inspections / audits and develop resulting action plans.
Main duties of the job
To ensure waste compliance in relation to storage and segregation across the Hospital sites. To act as a focal point of contact at a multi-disciplinary level on all matters appertaining to waste management/ recycling and segregation techniques and respond to specialist information requests as required. Promote and champion the overall concept of waste management at GOSH. Development of specific guidance documents and related information, and their promotion and promulgation utilising training, website and publications. Continually assess and provide specialist advice on waste management performance at GOSH, developing key waste performance indicators and objectives and targets, management control plan, to improve overall performance, and monitoring standards achieved. Working closely with the site base Facilities and Floor Managers act as the focal point of contact for the management, liaison and coordination of regular internal waste audits of all areas within GOSH premises and operational activities, to ensure compliance with legislation and GOSH policies and procedures. The post holder shall advise on and where appropriate on recycling schemes. Also, carry out environmental impact assessments for Estate and Facilities developments. Research, develop, maintain, and monitor a comprehensive GOSH Waste Legislation Register, to ensure compliance with waste legislation, good practice and approved codes of practice.
