We are recruiting for a Highly Specialised Practitioner at HMP Grendon to support the Democratic Therapeutic Community within the prison.

You'll be working with men who have intellectual/learning disabilities (TC+), providing specialist support to prisoners with Mild to Moderate Learning Disability, including the provision of skills and activity groups with an emphasis on managing day-to-day living and requirements for resettlement and re-integration back into the community.

This is a newly created post within our team where you'll be working closely with our Psychology Leads and the Head of Service to make a major impact on the lives of those who have volunteered to undertake therapy and help them to achieve the best possible outcome.

HMP Grendon functions as a therapeutic community and so the role is in the context of therapeutic boundaries. You'll be ensuring the delivery of an intervention complies with the requirements of the TC model and remains consistent with the prescribed delivery style.

The job entails being part of a multi-disciplinary team who work closely with the residents on the wing. You would have input into referrals, assessment of need, and their plans once on the unit. It would be important to have experience of formulation and treatment planning.

Supporting staff and consulting with them to impart your specialist knowledge. You would be part of the staff team who facilitates small and large group therapy in a therapeutic community model. In addition, helping the residents to become more independent and preparing for progression in their sentence.

Contribution to care provision of prisoners by providing consultation to the multidisciplinary team and ongoing support to create and implement care and treatment plans.

Delivering group psychological interventions, where appropriate.
