An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our nursing team within the orthopaedic unit. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a wide variety of knowledge and experience within a unit that includes both emergency and elective surgery.

We can offer a range of working opportunities including full and part time hours covering a variety of shift patterns over a 7 day rota including early shifts, late shifts, long days and some rotation onto nights.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with considerable experience at band 5, with excellent communication skills, team working skills, and experience in leading a team to join our busy ward.

Our nursing team is focused on the six C's so we aim to deliver high quality, compassionate care to our patients and carers.

Hours per Week: 37.5

Main duties of the job The role of the band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse is to support, contribute to and assist the Senior Sister in the leadership and management of the Ward/unit team and to support the Senior Sister in the development, monitoring and implementation of high quality, evidence-based clinical care to ensure continuity of service provision and standards are maintained and improved.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Current first level registration in General/Adult nursing ENB (English National Board) 998/mentorship or equivalent

Desirable Evidence of higher education ie Degree, Diploma etc.

Experience Essential Experience as a staff nurse within the specialty area Experience of designing and delivering education to junior staff Experience of using a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care

Desirable Experience in implementing improvements in practice/protocol or procedures

Leadership Qualities and Skills Essential Demonstrates a high standard of clinical practice in the appropriate field. Ability to problem solve Ability to promote effective communication Ability to prioritise tasks and action Ability to delegate safely Ability to recognise own sphere of competence and escalate appropriately
