We’re seeking a Senior Counsel to help navigate the increasing EU legislative and regulatory landscape applicable to OpenAI, with immediate focus on the complexity and amount of legal work needed for AI Act implementation (through Codes of Conduct and implementing acts). We need a motivated self-starter who is comfortable jumping into a deep dive of the EU AI Act implementation, as well as a broad range of EU legal and regulatory issues that will help shape the AI sector going forward and for which there is little precedent. The role will include:

Advice on the interpretation and application of the EU AI Act throughout the implementation process. Develop policy positions on pending legislation and international standards. Analyze laws and regulations concerning AI to understand their impact on OpenAI and the broader AI community. Engage with cross-functional internal stakeholders on the interpretation and application of EU legislation to OpenAI. Contribute to our ongoing improvements to AI governance as regulations come into force. Monitor and keep the team updated on emerging EU legislative and regulatory developments related to AI. Skills/experience needed:

10+ years of experience in law firms, in-house, or EU government/institution. Strong background in technology law. Experience and familiarity with AI or a demonstrated interest in AI laws and regulations. Knowledge and experience with intellectual property laws. Clear and concise writing, able to distill complex concepts into simple, explainable, and persuasive ideas. Experience analyzing complex legislation and regulation. Cross-border experience, particularly in the EU and European countries. Experience engaging with regulators and/or policymakers. About OpenAI:
