An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our Stroke team at Aintree University Hospital, Ward 33 ASU (Acute Stroke Unit). The North Mersey Stroke Service focuses on providing timely and specialist care for stroke patients from across the North Mersey area. It provides a wide range of services including acute stroke support and assessment, rehabilitation, and all aspects of inpatient care to patients from the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, and Southport Hospital sites. You must be highly motivated, innovative, and have a passion for delivering outstanding care to our patients and our community. Transforming stroke care is a priority within the NHS Long Term Plan. The merger of services will present a number of development opportunities for staff who are passionate about the care of stroke patients to further their careers in managerial, clinical roles, or advanced clinical roles. The Acute Stroke Unit is a 34-bedded Acute Stroke Ward with Aintree Rehab patients. The Ward accounts for a wide range of services providing acute stroke support and assessment, rehabilitation, and all aspects of inpatient care to patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care, working as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing patient-centered care. Main Duties of the Job

Ward 33 Acute Stroke Unit at Aintree University Hospital is looking to recruit a Qualified Nurse to join our team. The Acute Stroke Unit is a 34-bedded acute ward with Aintree Rehab patients. The Ward accounts for a wide range of services providing acute stroke support and assessment, rehabilitation, and all aspects of inpatient care to patients. We are a multidisciplinary department consisting of doctors, nurses, health care assistants, and therapists. Job Responsibilities

Involvement in assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care. Provide information to patients/carers. Lead falls clinic, assessing and identifying risk factors to reduce the risk of further falls. Make referrals to other disciplines. Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse, current NMC registration. Diploma in Nursing. Experience

Post-registration experience and successful completion of band 5 foundation gateway competencies. Experience within a relevant clinical setting. Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment. Evidence of working with students. Recent acute hospital experience (including as a student nurse). Knowledge

Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance. Demonstrates awareness of own limitations. Skills

Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to support less experienced staff. Ability to problem solve. Good written and verbal communication skills. Basic IT skills, including e-mail and word processing. Other

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per annum/pro rata.
