To assist the registered nursing staff in the day to day care of patients which adheres to best practice, standards and guidelines, endeavouring to provide for the holistic needs of the individual in conjunction with other disciplines within the health care environment. Main duties of the job

To assist the registered nurse in carrying out direct nursing care. To undertake delegated duties related to patient care that contributes to the ongoing support of patients, including escorting patients to various destinations. To display empathy, understanding and the ability to relate to people with learning disabilities or complex mental health problems. Ensure observation levels are consistently carried out and obtain specimens from patients for the purpose of testing and screening where necessary. Contribute to maintaining the safety and security of individuals and their environment. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. About us

Qualifications and / or Knowledge

To be willing to undertake NVQ level 3 and to complete within 2 years. Knowledge of up to date nursing techniques. Knowledge of mental health and substance misuse issues. To be registered with Care Standards Wales or be prepared to gain registration within the first six months of employment. Experience

Experience of working with people. Experience within Mental Health, learning disabilities, substance misuse, or primary care. Experience of acute inpatient settings. Values

Able to communicate with people at all levels. Able to work in a team and demanding/pressurised environment. Flexible approach to needs of the service. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
