We are looking for a pharmacist to join our team as a Specialist Pharmacist in Oncology and Haematology.

You will be supporting the Cancer Service by clinically screening and verifying prescriptions for SACT with reference to authorised protocols, pathology results, and other relevant parameters. This post also supports Technical Services, with involvement in maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, together with the Chief Technician and Lead Pharmacist.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deputise for the Lead Pharmacist where appropriate. This post includes participation in the seven-day pharmacy service, dispensary cover, bank holiday, and on-call rota.

Qualifications

Essential

Master's Degree in Pharmacy Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Postgraduate Diploma in clinical pharmacy

Desirable

Registered independent prescriber or working towards

Skills

Essential

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to present complex, sensitive, or contentious information in a possible hostile, antagonistic, or emotive atmosphere Ability to manage and implement change Ability to influence and communicate with senior medical, managerial, nursing, and pharmacy staff

Desirable

Previous use of electronic prescription systems (such as JAC and Chemocare)

Knowledge

Essential

Up-to-date knowledge on the latest treatments for cancer Knowledge of Technical Services, including GMP

Desirable

Experience of biosimilar switch process
