BIOLOGY at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College The Biology and Science departments at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College are each extremely high performing, with a track record of achieving Outstanding ALPs value added for over the last three years. The Biology department is lively, dynamic, and progressive in terms of their approach to teaching and learning. The department offers A Level Biology and contributes to the T Level Health delivery. In September 2024, the department also launched A Level Environmental Science, developing students in response to local and national ‘Green Skills’ needs and a commitment to championing sustainability. Over 500 students study A Level Biology, showing the strength of the subject in the college and its track record of student success. The department has made a major contribution to the academic standing of the College, both locally and nationally. We have been particularly successful every year in terms of the Biology Olympiad and are proud of our students' achievements at Bronze, Silver, and Gold award levels. There is a friendly and professional atmosphere within the department and across all the science departments, with a strong emphasis on encouraging a positive rapport between staff and students in the pursuit of academic success. Within the departments, there is a wealth of experience and professional knowledge, along with an encouragement to undertake CPD. The post offers the opportunity for an experienced or aspirational Head of department with a track record of outstanding success to make a significant contribution to the future of Notre Dame within a supportive, friendly environment, with a commitment to the personal and academic development of all students.
