Experimental Engineering - Submarines Rolls-Royce is home to some of the world's finest minds, particularly in our growing nuclear business. Our team consists of experts in engineering, manufacturing, project management, and procurement. This is your chance to join them. We provide an inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, offering continuous learning and a breadth of opportunities to grow your career. A number of exciting opportunities have arisen in the Rolls-Royce Submarines Technical Development Department, where a new team has been formed to deliver a large body of experimental testing. This is a great opportunity to shape the vision for experimental testing going forward. The Experimental Engineering team is responsible for the entire value chain needed to deliver quality test data, including deciding where tests will be conducted, developing appropriate test programmes, managing enabling work for test programmes, overseeing data collection, and processing raw data to produce quality outputs for technical customers. One of the initial primary focuses of this role will be thermal-hydraulic testing, primarily performed at the MoD/Rolls-Royce facility in Derby. What You Will Be Doing:

Your main responsibilities will include: Collaborating with Discipline Development Leads, rig operators, and technicians to deliver experimental testing programmes. Developing and deploying integrated testing programmes using optical flow measurement technology. Collaborating with the analytical community to develop high fidelity analytical methods. Taking ownership of long-term roadmaps for technology areas, including thermal hydraulic and high fidelity measurement. Engaging with external organisations and research projects at our University Technology Centres. Who We’re Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential criteria: Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or science-based subject. Experience in conducting experimental testing relevant to engineering. Understanding of measurement techniques and methods. Good IT skills, including data processing and knowledge of Python. Strong interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills. An analytical mind with good numeracy and literacy. Ability to work flexibly, both individually and as part of a team. Ability to adhere to Rolls-Royce company processes and Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations. Experience with optical based measurement technologies is highly desirable. We’re an equal opportunities employer committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that diverse perspectives lead to greater success. To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently have this in place. Due to the nature of the work, you must hold UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work. Job Category:
