Job Summary Working with businesses across the UK, WEEE Scotland helps customers to extend the life of their electrical equipment and machinery, and dispose of redundant electronics in a safe, sustainable and compliant way. As Health and Safety Co-ordinator you will be responsible for the effective operation of the health and safety function across the business, driving safe culture and instilling positive change. This standalone role provides a great opportunity to make an impact in a growing business. About the role Your key responsibilities will include: Ensuring the H&S System Framework is maintained to meet compliance with all current HSE legislative requirements, taking into account Industry best practice. Ensuring H&S Framework objectives and targets are communicated to all employees and support the delivery of these. Promoting health and safety activities and initiatives as per current legislation / best practice. Develop and maintain Policies, Procedures, Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments with all key business employees input. Monitor all inputs and outputs for the health and safety management system. Implement measurements of H&S related topics and communicate these regularly with the site management team. Control and have lead involvement in all accident, incidents or near misses at site and undertake the necessary investigations as required to identify root cause and working with all managers / supervisors, implement and share key learnings and all data collated. Maintain an accident, incident and near miss register for traceability of all actions generated from these. Maintain the business health and safety SharePoint site. Arranging and coordinating Health and Safety meetings and ensuring cross-functional attendance at all levels. Assisting managers / supervisors and other departments in the collation of any H&S Documentation / information that they require. Supporting the improvement of health and safety processes and where relevant, identifying ways to improve internal systems and processes. Providing day-to-day support to enable organisational compliance with legal, contractual, regulatory and non-regulatory standards and certifications. Co-ordinating processes and tools required for the effective delivery of the Health and Safety Strategy and associated action plans. Facilitating training and development needs in relation to Health and Safety across the business, ensuring that the site training matrix is current and up to date. Developing, undertaking and maintaining a full audit program to support legislative and operational requirements, develop reports to share with all business employees. Working with the Management Team to determine practical and deliverable measures to improve H&S performance. Maintaining the Contractor Register, ensuring that all Contractors used on site are approved and inducted and that the PTW system is being used. Managing the ISO certification audit program through planning and scheduling for internal and external audits, compiling metrics and maintaining records of audit reports. Any other duties commensurate with the nature of the role. Candidate Requirements Essential: NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 4 or 5 At least 3 years’ experience as a H&S Co-ordinator or similar role Knowledge of management systems Self-motivated and resilient, with a strong work ethic Great written and spoken communication skills Drive to succeed and learn in an industry that is ever changing and growing Desirable: Previous experience working in the resource management/recycling sector Full driving license Live the company values Be considerate; to the environment, colleagues, customers and the wider community Be credible; demonstrating honesty and integrity in all aspects of your role Be courageous; embrace change, take on new challenges and actively contribute to improving business operations Job Type:
