A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our highly valued Early Years autism assessment and general paediatrics psychology teams in Child Health.

The post is a 0.6 wte, part-time for 3 days per week. We are a small and friendly psychology team. The role is mostly focused on ASD assessment with some time supporting children with medical conditions.

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible individual who is interested in developing effective and innovative services with good quality outcomes for children, young people and their families living with chronic health conditions, to improve their quality of life and well-being.

Main duties of the job

We work with children and young people referred with a broad range of physical health conditions including cystic fibrosis, respiratory, cardiac, epilepsy, oncology, allergies, chronic pain, and persistent physical symptom presentations.

Our ASD team is made up of a senior clinical psychologist (this post), a speech and language therapist, a child development practitioner, Consultant Community Paediatricians and Associate Specialists in Paediatrics.

Psychologists working within the child health team are valued for their expertise in offering psychological assessments, integrative psychological formulations, working with complex cases and offering consultation and supervision.

Completing autism spectrum disorder assessments for early years children as part of a multi-disciplinary autism team in Child Health. Using standardised assessment tools, including the ADOS.

Offering assessments and psychological interventions to children, young people and their families where the child has a medical or physical health condition and is experiencing psychological distress as a result of physical ill health.
