There is an exciting opportunity available to join the Lancashire and South Cumbria Traumatic Stress Service (LSCTSS) to extend your knowledge, clinical skills and experience in working with people who have experienced trauma. We are a specialist trauma service, based in Chorley, which provides assessment and treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as Complex PTSD. The service delivers evidence-based interventions that are based on research evidence and standards of good practice.

LSCTSS provides opportunities for patients to engage with preparatory and resource development sessions while on the waiting list and they can also be seen by our pharmacist to review their medication. The service has developed a six module treatment programme in relation to the treatment of complex trauma that emphasises the importance of ensuring that the patient is stable, safe and secure before directly addressing the trauma memory.

The service provides robust clinical and peer supervision as well as staff well-being initiatives. The post holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to consultation, training, resource development and research.

The expectation is that the post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy for LSCFT staff who have experienced trauma. The post-holder will also be expected to attend team meetings and case discussion forums. The skilled provision of evidence-based psychological interventions for a range of presentations, which will include specialised trauma-focused interventions, will be an essential aspect of the post.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health, and forensic services including low and medium secure care. The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.

Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust encourages flexible working; we believe that a positive work/life balance benefits NHS employees through improved health and wellbeing. We would consider working patterns such as term time, part time, compressed hours, flexi-time, and career breaks. We encourage applicants to state clearly on their application forms this request and discuss these options at interview.
