Where you fit in
Joining the Regulatory Affairs Team for SEA and Renewable Energy Solutions, you will join a team that scans the political, legislative, and regulatory landscape for trends and issues that can give rise to substantive value creation or destruction. Working closely with fellow commercial colleagues, the team builds a case to either pursue the opportunities or mitigate the threats.
Your role will focus on the market for gas and for voluntary and regulated certificates for biomethane in Europe with emphasis on opportunities in North European markets, particularly the Netherlands.
What’s the role?
As a Regulatory Affairs Advisor based in London, you will be working with our gas and biomethane traders and originators and be accountable for researching and synthesising regulations to draw out key learnings to support country-specific business strategies and commercial opportunities with respect to gas and biomethane in the Netherlands. Further, you will be responsible for influencing the further development of the regulatory framework for gas and biomethane in the Netherlands to enable the gas energy transition and to protect/advance SEA’s interests.
Other accountabilities of the role include:
Focal point subject matter expertise for traders and originators on NL gas and biomethane regulation to anticipate, develop insight and influence regulatory developments.
Establishing & maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Trading & Supply Products team, Products Compliance team, Renewable Energy Solutions, Government Relations, and Legal.
Establishing strong working relationships with national authorities and agencies responsible for the regulatory framework of gas and for biomethane certificates.
This role will require occasional/regular travel to the Netherlands and other locations as required.
What we need from you
We want to talk to individuals who have some knowledge of the regulatory framework for gas or biomethane and/or certificates for renewable sources (i.e., Guarantees of Origin, transport sustainability certificates) in the NL. Dutch and English language skills are required for the role.
This position requires high commercial acumen and creativity allowing you to respond adequately (and in many cases under time pressure and in public fora) to challenges in negotiations with highly experienced and commercially astute regulatory professionals.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English essential.
University educated, ideally with a post-graduate qualification having a strong analytical component with evidence of strong academic performance.
Project management/coordination skills.
Influencing skills; ability to inform & influence multiple stakeholders (internal & external).
Experience reviewing/interpreting regulations, ability to synthesize relevant information from review of lengthy/complex regulations and draw commercial implications.
Demonstrated ability to formulate opinions and advise on commercial impact to existing and/or regulatory feasibility of new commercial activities given evolving legislative landscape.
Self-starter, able to initiate new opportunities from a broadly defined set of objectives, meet/exceed performance targets and motivate others to do likewise.
