No two days are the same for our Marine Surveyors. You could be reviewing drawings for a new fishing vessel one day then carrying out complex damage stability calculations for a passenger ship the next. Within this role, you will be responsible for helping the MCA's Statutory Services Delivery Team achieve its agreed MCA Business Plan activities and objectives. This includes reviewing ship stability information and vessel drawings to confirm compliance with UK and international requirements. We want our Marine Surveyors to be the very best. In return, we offer full training, specifically designed for the role. The training provided will include courses and on-the-job training, delivered by experienced surveyors within your first 12 months in the role. In addition, a competitive package which includes flexible working patterns and attractive remuneration, and ongoing support to develop a rewarding career that makes a difference and saves lives. Some of the typical responsibilities could include, but are not limited to: Examining and assessing intact and damage stability information for ships to ensure that they meet UK and international safety and anti-pollution regulations, where qualified and eligible to do so. Examining and assessing vessel construction plans and structural information for compliance with the requirements of MCA construction standards, where qualified and eligible to do so. Contributing to the provision and delivery of first-class Statutory Services to both internal and external customers. Working with the Technical Manager, Principal Marine Surveyor (Stability & Plan Approval), and Business Manager to provide a customer service experience that both meets and manages expectations; helping to deliver a regulatory climate that is clear, consistent, and supportive of UK maritime industries. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) implements the government's maritime safety policy in the United Kingdom and works to prevent the loss of life and occurrence of pollution on the coast and at sea. Safer lives. Safer Ships. Cleaner Seas. Our vision is to be a world-leading organisation, accelerating the transition to sustainable shipping with non-negotiable safety standards. We put our people, our customers and our planet at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to giving all our colleagues purpose, professionalism, and pride in what we do. We work in supportive, diverse, and inclusive teams. We want everyone to feel valued and supported to achieve their potential at MCA.
