Specialist Safeguarding Children Nurse . As a Specialist Safeguarding Children Nurse, you will be an integral part of the safeguarding children team based at Stepping Hill Hospital. The post holder will provide safeguarding children advice, guidance and training to both acute and community staff working for Stockport NHS FT, and support the Safeguarding Children Named Nurse with the service delivery. This post is particularly suited to experienced registered nurses seeking a career in safeguarding children. Key Responsibilities: To protect children from harm and abuse by identifying and reporting concerns. Support staff by providing specialist safeguarding knowledge and training. Support the Named Nurse for safeguarding children in the delivery of the safeguarding children service. Work with other agencies to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for children. Ensure effective local safeguarding children policies are in place and adhered to. Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation and delivery of safeguarding training in line with current legislation and local policy. Provide and facilitate individual and group supervision to health professionals ensuring effective case management for families who are identified as vulnerable and for children in care. Provide specialist knowledge, support and advice to health professionals on safeguarding matters trust wide. Support and assist staff to identify and refer to children's social care any known/suspected cases of child abuse. Assist, advise and supervise staff in the preparation of reports in relation to child protection. Support staff during strategy and professionals meetings, acting as liaison for other agencies involved in the process. Work across both the acute and community safeguarding children's teams to ensure robust service provision. Assist the Named Nurse in completing health information for various review panels. Provide information about hospital care and health information from case holder records for children involved in the MARAC processes. Produce health chronologies for complex cases including fabricated/induced illness. Provide specialist knowledge and support to adult areas when caring for 16-17 year olds. Develop effective partnerships, working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to address the safeguarding children's agenda. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50, which will be deducted from your first Trust salary. Joining the DBS update service and paying the annual subscription fee of £16 will also be a condition of your employment.
