We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic project officer to help drive forward a number of high profile climate change projects.

The Council's Corporate Strategy commits to tackling climate change through work to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs, as well as enhancing biodiversity. This post will be responsible for progressing projects to help deliver the Council's Climate Change Action Programme and the Biodiversity Action Programme. Possible examples include taking forward proposals to deliver more EV charging in Council car parks, supporting work to provide a new cycle route through a park, improving the Council's management of sustainable urban drainage (SUDs), and coordinating work to begin the restoration of a fire damaged former farmhouse.

You will be joining a climate change team which includes 5 other officers with varied responsibilities, including biodiversity, decarbonisation of public buildings, supporting residents to reduce energy and carbon emissions from homes, advising on net zero new developments, and community engagement in relation to climate and biodiversity.

If you have experience in project management and a background in environmental management, development, or sustainability, as well as experience of working with Councillors and external stakeholders, we would love to hear from you.

Here at Warwick District Council, we pride ourselves on offering a great place to work. We achieve our goals by recruiting and retaining motivated, empowered, and flexible staff. We are committed to training and development, and we encourage a healthy work-life balance.

We offer the rewards and benefits that make it a great place to work.

The intention is for the post holder to work predominantly from home; however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. Office and hybrid working are also available.

Warwick District is at the heart of Shakespeare's England and comprises the towns of Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth, and Whitnash. The district boasts historic castles and buildings with regency architecture, vibrant town centres, and beautiful parks and gardens. We enjoy links to the M40, M42, M1, and M6, national rail connections, and Birmingham International Airport. It is one of the most prosperous regions in the country with low unemployment rates.

Here at Warwick District Council, our vision is to make Warwick District a great place to live, work, and visit, and we recognise that our employees are the key to achieving that. Working arrangements in most jobs are flexible; flexi-time, full or part-time, and job sharing is usually available. You can expect generous holiday entitlements, a pension scheme, and plenty of opportunities for training and personal development.
