As the Weather & Crop Researcher, you will contribute to shaping the weather content for Expana. Reporting to the Weather Analytics Lead, you will be researching and analysing weather news and data to support our day-to-day activities. Your mission? To explore the complex landscape of weather and climate data and transform your findings into interesting news articles or populate our monthly weather report. Along the way you will learn about the impact of weather on global commodities, from agricultural crops to shipping and logistics. Your curiosity and creativity will be key in transforming data into actionable insights that propel our company forward. Responsibilities

Data Processing and Analysis – Use available weather, satellite and crop data to analyse the impact of weather on agricultural crops, using both Excel and QGIS software. Extreme Weather Research – Assess damage to global commodities using internal and third-party news to create an understanding of the current situation. Crop Research – Explore how crops are grown and their individual tolerances to different weather conditions. Report Writing and Editorial – Identify potential stories for publication, contribute to the monthly report and write articles relating to extreme weather and the climate. Also support with proof-reading others’ work. Queries Support – Help the team with requests and queries from clients and internal experts. Skills & Qualifications

A university degree, preferably in a meteorological, environmental or mathematical subject or equivalent experience in a research and analytical role. Strong writing skills using professional, clear and concise language, with previous experience writing for all audiences. Comprehensive Excel and IT skills with an understanding of basic formulas and functions. Strong and proven research skills, understanding of how to choose reliable sources and datasets. Excellent attention to detail and time management. An organised approach to work, ability to adapt and take initiative. Experience with GIS is desirable. Proven experience in working with weather data and forecasts is desirable. Working knowledge of python or other coding language is desirable.
