Our Project:
Jealott’s Hill Community Landshare is a successful and well-established, award-winning community project based in Warfield, Bracknell Forest, focused on peoples’ wellbeing, gardening and the outdoor environment. We are supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who, led by the Landshare Manager, utilise their gardening and practical skills to maintain our 6-acre site, grow vegetables, fruit, and flowers, and run events. We provide support and empowerment for a diverse group of community members, including those with autism, learning and physical disabilities, and individuals seeking to improve their mental health by connecting with nature. We are now ready to develop the project further to provide a range of services to a wider group. The Role:
Responsible for day-to-day operational management of the Landshare, including the cultivation and maintenance of therapeutic gardens. Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, members, and volunteers. Lead on community liaison, volunteer recruitment, and staff management. This role is an opportunity for a confident manager with an interest in gardens and people to make a meaningful impact through outdoor activities. Main Duties:
Manage the Landshare, staff, and volunteers, maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment. Maximise use of the Landshare by various groups and individual users. Work closely with Directors on strategic matters. Manage the Horticultural Assistant and support volunteer recruitment. Act as an ambassador for the Landshare. Manage financial and administrative tasks, including record keeping. Contribute to the Landshare's social media presence. Be the primary contact with the Landowner Syngenta. Provide practical guidance and support as needed. Cover for the Horticultural Assistant in their absence. Preferred Person Specification:
Experience in community project management and development. Experience managing staff and volunteers. Experience working with vulnerable individuals. Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills. Proficiency in administrative tasks and social media. Basic knowledge of horticulture and DIY skills. Understanding of health and safety requirements. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. First Aid trained (or willing to undergo training). Willing to undertake an enhanced disclosure check. Terms and Conditions:
Part-time, 18 hours per week. Salary - £19.18 per hour. Benefits include 20 days annual leave and a pension contribution. Free on-site parking. PPE provided. Interviews:
