We are looking to recruit personable, flexible, and motivated Deputy Ward Manager to assist the Ward Manager and MDT. Positions are available within our:
Male Acute Ward - 12 beds
Mixed Acute Ward - 10 beds
We admit people with mental health illnesses predominantly psychosis, depression, personality disorders, and other diagnoses. Our usual length of stay runs from a few days to months, and we support patients to return to their own communities with help from their home teams. We work as a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, healthcare assistants, speciality doctor, consultant, psychologist, and occupational therapy in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
We are seeking those who can be a highly visible role model and mentor to the nursing team. The post-holder will have responsibility for assisting and maintaining the highest standards of nursing care, providing advice and support from a nursing perspective, and overseeing and holding responsibility for the ward environment and its resources.
You will assist in managing the ward, supporting and managing staff in order to meet the psychological and therapeutic needs of a diverse group of service users with varying degrees of mental and physical issues. You will be caring and attentive with the skills to build strong and trusting relationships with people. It is also important that you work well in a team, are keen to work in a fast-paced environment, and are able to report effectively to senior management.
Candidates should have a high level of commitment and creativity, resilience and robustness, positivity and personal warmth, as well as motivation and excellent team-working skills.
What you will need:
At least 2 years post-qualifying clinical experience
Experience of working within an in-patient mental health setting and the treatment of adults as well as in an acute setting
High levels of customer service
Effective management of complaints
A strong sense of responsibility & ownership
Willingness to learn
Effective communication skills
Flexibility and strong 'can do' attitude
