Purpose of the Role: An exciting opportunity for a 1-year internship within McLaren Racing Formula One team. The role will be based with Operations with the focus being Continuous Improvement. This role is suitable for those graduating in 2025 or looking for a year in industry before finishing a degree in 2026. The start date will be in September 2025. Working collaboratively between all areas of McLaren Operations, you will support with analysing and evolving operational continuous improvement; creating, developing then implementing operational improvement projects as directed. Contribute to, lead, and deliver complete improvement projects at our manufacturing sites and to rectify risk, reliability, and performance hurdles. Consistently assessing and reporting on time, cost, and future continuous improvement projects. Role Dimensions: Reporting to the Reliability & Continuous Improvement Lead, you will develop and maintain operational procedures and methods using digital tools within the MTC and Trackside Teams. Develop new methods and practices to improve operational efficiency, process flow and control within MTC and into trackside. Principal Accountabilities: Co-ordinate, facilitate and deliver improvement projects within the F1 Operations. Deliver consistent results to ensure efficiency and consistency across departments. Support reducing time taken for all operational tasks, minimising risk through consistent process and efficiency gains. Support operational fault resolution, assessment, and actioning. Evaluate ideal efficiency goals and deliver methods of meeting these, to reduce risk, increase throughput and promote consistency, cost saving and overall operational reliability. Build relationships across all teams and areas of influence. Establish a methodology for highlighting risk factors ahead of them happening. Simulation of potential operational failures. Supporting dynamic rotations of staff by ensuring knowledge does not lie only in individuals. Job requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or working towards) in an engineering discipline. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a high level of attention to detail. Able to develop, participate and thrive in a team-orientated environment. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and MRP systems. Experience of introducing new working practices to achieve competitive operational and reliability status. Understanding of Continuous Improvement Methodologies and Control Mechanisms. Experience with cross functional liaison and delivery management. Ability to present data and effect change to a set schedule and timeline. Personal Attributes: Energetic, enthusiastic, and highly self-motivated. Proactive - takes opportunity to use initiative where possible. Team player – both supportive and approachable, able to extract the best from a team whilst maintaining good relations.
