Works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to provide medical care and treatment to women, with a focus on reproduction and gynecology. Will be integral in implementing an innovative collaborative care model for the Cochrane district that is seamless and facilitates timely access to care, prenatal care, and post-natal care. The model leverages Nurse Practitioner OB extenders to maximize the expert OBGYN, GPOB team’s ability to provide oversight and lead and monitor high-quality maternity care. This position will report to the Maternal Child Manager. Position Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with the obstetricians and GPOBs, providing support for obstetrical patients (including assessments, immunizations, screening). Operate outpatient clinics, supporting the OB and GPOBs in streamlining referrals and other roles as they continue to evolve in the development process. The NP will provide screening, assessment, and intervention to clients that are referred to the clinic in collaboration with the physicians. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive patient-centered care and hand over to the appropriate level of care and/or primary care provider. Provide primary care as a physician extender by establishing and maintaining a caring therapeutic relationship, which focuses on the needs of the patients. Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide goal-directed interventions and to reach identified client outcomes. Maintain collaborative relationships with individuals and community organizations that provide services to the client. Demonstrate leadership, delegating tasks appropriately, acting as a role model, mentor, and resource person. The candidate will be key in planning, developing, and implementing the program in collaboration with the physicians and the Maternal Child Program; other roles and responsibilities will be defined in the process. Perform wellness exams, order diagnostic tests, provide prenatal care, and liaise with other medical staff to ensure continuity of care. Provide support to the OB team at the hospital site as required within the scope of the role. Position Requirements: Registered and in good standing with the respective regulating body. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with obstetrical patients. Recent experience as an RN in the Maternal Child Program will be considered an asset. Experience in program development and education. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices. Effective time management and ability to prioritize workload. Must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision and must follow standardized procedures. Should be adaptable to cope with changing contexts with people, situations, and conditions. Must have an employment history that demonstrates regular attendance at work.
