Lutine Bell are supporting a rapidly growing insurtech/insurance client who are looking to appoint a Chief Legal, Risk and Compliance Officer who will initially hold both SMF4 & 16. The role will drive strategy within the business and be a regulatory point of contact. Key Responsibilities Legal Oversight Legal Strategy

– Develop and lead the company’s legal framework, safeguarding its interests while providing expert legal counsel to the executive team and board. Contracts & Agreements

– Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements. Insurance Law & Claims

– Manage legal matters related to motor insurance policies and claims, ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Regulatory Compliance

– Ensure full adherence to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, mitigating legal risks proactively. Risk Strategy

– Design and implement comprehensive risk management policies to protect the business. Risk Identification & Assessment

– Evaluate emerging risks, with a focus on the motor insurance sector. Risk Controls

– Conduct periodic risk assessments, implementing strong controls to mitigate exposure. Compliance Leadership Compliance Culture

– Champion a culture of regulatory excellence, embedding principles of

fair value, consumer duty, and positive customer outcomes . Regulatory Engagement

– Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies such as the

FCA

and

GFSC , ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving industry guidelines. Compliance Ownership

– Hold the

SMF16

function, overseeing core compliance policies and ensuring regulatory requirements are embedded in decision-making. Product Governance

– Ensure regulatory compliance in new product launches, aligning product design with customer and industry expectations. Governance & Oversight

– Lead governance structures, ensuring effective controls and regulatory alignment across the organization. Committee Leadership

– Engage in and lead key committees, providing strategic guidance, constructive challenge, and accountability for compliance-related matters. Regulatory & Board Reporting

– Oversee regulatory submissions and board-level reporting to ensure transparency and alignment with corporate objectives. Strategic Influence Executive Advisory

– Act as a

trusted advisor

to the CEO, CFO, and executive team on all legal, risk, and compliance matters. Forward-Thinking Strategy

– Develop bold, innovative plans that align with business growth while anticipating future regulatory and legal challenges. Market & Industry Insights

– Build internal and external networks to gain market intelligence, leveraging insights to shape business strategy. Inspiring Leadership

– Lead and mentor the legal and compliance teams, fostering a

high-performance culture . Capability Building

– Ensure the function is structured to

scale with business growth , effectively managing complex legal and regulatory challenges. Qualifications & Experience Education Qualified

Solicitor or Barrister , with a strong academic background. Experience Minimum 20 years

of legal experience, with substantial exposure to the

motor insurance

sector. Proven track record in a

senior legal, risk, or compliance role

within an

InsurTech or insurance

organization. Deep expertise in

FCA regulations

(ICOBS, PRIN, SUP, DISP, TC), with extensive experience engaging with the FCA on matters related to

fair value and consumer duty . Key Skills Exceptional
