The jobholder has site responsibility for management of the quality assurance systems. This person also has responsibility for the site’s BRC, IFS, CLAS, and other external audit bodies. The Senior Food Technologist deputises for the Laboratory Manager in their absence and ensures the smooth running of the department on these occasions. Dimensions

Managing ingredient and product quality assurance using laboratory analysis Liaising with production on food safety, quality, and legal issues. To supervise and work as part of a team within the laboratory. Capable of performing all laboratory testing. Site contact for retailer/other external communication. Principal Responsibilities

Using a range of bench tests and instrumental techniques to provide Quality Control on incoming materials to ensure compliance with both in-house specifications and EC/UK regulations. Maintenance of all laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order and calibrated to BRC, IFS, and CLAS standards. Maintain and update all product specifications, including customer, raw materials, and in-house quality standard specifications. Assist with NPD/EPD work in line with business expectations. Key interface between Technical and Production at the Belvedere site responsible for ensuring that customers’ and other relevant bodies' standards for process and products are met at all times. To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity, and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to. Quality Manual

Maintain the quality manual to ensure HACCP, GMP, and Due Diligence is maintained Thorough internal audits and review to maintain policy updates Ensure controlled documentation is maintained Product Standards:

Ensure that all products meet legal requirements Ensure all products meet customer specifications and/or company standards Ensure all testing regimes are being carried out to meet the above standards Investigate complaints providing feedback to Technical Manager and site on the root cause of issues. QA

Ensure that a cost-effective and efficient service is being provided by the QA Department within the factory. Ensure monthly/weekly reports are being generated and improvements recorded and tracked. Customer Audit and Customer Service

Co-ordinate BRC and Customer audits and ensure actions are closed out. Complete KPI reports for customers where appropriate Auditing

Complete an annual programme of internal audits (hygiene, systems, and standards) to ensure compliance with company standards and retain both BRC and ISO accreditation. Ensure all audits are correctly documented, action points distributed, and closed off. Environment

Be aware of the impact of the position on the environment and be competent to carry out this responsibility. Product Recall and Crisis Management

Graduate or equivalent in related discipline Minimum 3 years food industry experience at supervisory/management level, some of which in a laboratory environment Audit (internal and external) – qualified to carry out internal audits essential Basic/Intermediate HACCP and Food Safety Qualifications essential Food industry raw material testing experience Knowledge of Average Weight Legislation Fluent in MS Office applications Experience of SAP or similar system At Princes, we are committed to making all stages of our recruitment process accessible to all candidates (including application).
