Vital helps leading digital health and wellness companies connect to wearable and lab data, through

a single universal API.

Our mission is to decrease the cost to predict, diagnose and prevent chronic disease by two orders of magnitude. Healthcare is in a crisis, help us fix this for the humans behind the results. With more and more data being collected from wearables, lab tests and patient-doctor conversations, we’re entering an era where data is abundant. We need people like you who are passionate about how technology can supercharge healthcare.

We’ve got some of the greatest hearts and minds from

Babylon ,

Ro ,

SpaceX , and

Monzo

working to solve one of the biggest challenges of our time: making personalized, proactive, and affordable healthcare a reality. Backed by

Point Nine ,

20VC ,

YC , and leading angels, we’re connecting millions already.

Short on time? TL'DR You:

You’re a product minded, Senior Backend Engineer who’s motivated to help predict chronic diseases - faster and more affordably.

Us:

Team size 13, revenue 6x'd in the last year.

Salary:

£80K - £115K + early stage options.

Location:

Fully remote (GMT timezone).

Impact:

Work on life changing tech that redefines patient care.

Why we need you Our small (for now) mighty 4-person engineering team is tackling big, ambitious projects across wearables and lab testing. You don’t need to understand the nitty gritty details of healthcare (like phlebotomy) - but you should be curious and ready to make an impact on one of society’s most pressing challenges. What you’ll be doing day to day Tackling ambitious problems:

You’ll be breaking down technical challenges that haven’t been done before in healthcare; we need you to be extremely product minded with every line of code you write.

Building and shipping new products for Lab Testing:

Our product usage is growing exponentially as a result of our talented hardworking team. We now get to build loads more game-changing products across the lab testing space.

Continuously thinking about the end patient experience:

We need you to be in the details on a specific build at the same time as zooming out looking at our entire product. This is the only way we will reach our mission together.

Our tech stack Stack: Python (FastAPI), Go, TypeScript, Next.js.

with engineering values + principles.

You have these skills and experiences Early stage companies is your thing - ambiguity, variety and speed.

You have 3+ years backend experience - Python is our main language but it's not a requirement to be fluent in it.

You want to be hands-on focusing on writing code and shipping products that touch the lives of millions of people.

Experience building an API product and have strong opinions with what makes a good API for a developer.

You are comfortable with owning features and being the driving force behind them.

Who you are as a person You have a genuine interest in healthcare and the power of technology to transform patient experience.

You love to work autonomously and want to work on product that has a big impact.

You see yourself as an owner when you join a company, not an employee.

An extremely curious person - wanting to know how things work, especially in a regulated industry like healthcare.

You care about the outcomes, rather than outputs.

You thrive in a remote team working across the world.

How you'll be compensated Salary:

£80K–£115K + early stage options.

The salary above is generated by our transparent salary calculator. The calculation is based on San Francisco as a location, 50th percentile, with location factors from Gitlab’s handbook - we’ve spent a lot of time making compensation fair at Vital. More information is
