Main Purpose The purpose of this role is to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of innovative educational programs within the directorate, ensuring exceptional student outcomes, retention, and overall experience. The Curriculum Director will collaborate with academic and administrative staff to design a forward-thinking curriculum aligned with current educational standards and industry demands. This role involves enhancing teaching methodologies, integrating advanced technology, and monitoring student progress to inform curriculum adjustments. The Curriculum Director will engage with external stakeholders to maintain the curriculum's relevance and alignment with job market needs. Effective leadership in this role is crucial to achieving the directorate's goals of outstanding student outcomes, retention, experience, and progress. Key Accountabilities: Direct provision in Creative, Healthcare, Early Years, Foundation Learning, Online Learning and Teacher Education. Lead the continuous development of the Directorate, creating a vibrant environment and a strong delivery model and team to achieve the goal of becoming a centre of excellence. Create and continuously develop an innovative and inspirational teaching, learning and assessment (TLA) strategy (including a responsive and relevant curriculum offer) ensuring that the opportunities offered by ongoing developments in technology, high levels of employer engagement and exciting, value added external experiences are fully optimised and that outstanding student outcomes are consistently achieved. Develop and lead strategies for developing the aspirations of applicants and students through strong information and guidance on their longer-term career goals; and, through an inspirational model of the student journey and the high levels of support within it, ensure that all students are well placed to realise those aspirations. Drive the performance of all provision to achieve challenging targets through the swift implementation of appropriate improvement plans which are informed by ongoing evaluation via student focus groups, course reviews, self-assessment, and the rigorous scrutiny of relevant data. Deliver the College’s learner voice strategy ensuring that levels of student satisfaction and participation in surveys exceed the agreed target. Lead and manage staff, ensuring that their performance is outstanding and that the skills and competencies of all are continually developing. Deliver the business plan and achieve its financial targets. Manage a defined budget and ensure compliance with the College’s financial policies. Maintain a strong network with providers who are leaders in the sector, ensuring the provision benefits from best practice activities. Qualifications, Experience and Competencies: A teaching qualification and evidence of recent and relevant CPD. A strong track record within a relevant curriculum area of leading and managing a team to deliver exceptional results. Knowledge and understanding of what constitutes outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, and experience of successfully implementing strategies which improve student progress and achievement. Understanding of and practical experience of the Ofsted inspection framework. A strong continuous improvement orientation with experience and evidence of constantly identifying opportunities to improve learners’ experience, progress and outcomes. Successful experience of strategic and operational planning and the monitoring of performance against action plans and targets. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and influence a diverse range of people. Proactive, self-motivated and able to operate on own initiative and exercise sound judgement. Personally organised and able to effectively plan work to ensure delivery whilst recognising the need for adaptability as priorities shift.
