Electrical / Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer

who has experience maintaining EC&I equipment, such as automated machines, switchgear, MCCs, Inverters, PLCs, control valves and field instrumentation. Key Responsibilities: As E, C & I Engineer you will work in partnership with leaders, key stakeholders, and the Engineering Team to implement solutions to high engineering standards. You will be the intelligent customer to new designs, ensuring technical compliance to the statutory regulations and industry best practices. You will drive improvements in the E, C&I engineering capability across Oxide Fuels manufacturing, providing coaching and leading a culture of continuous improvement within the team. You will lead processes to identify improvement opportunities, effectively communicating their benefits to local stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to develop new talent through mentoring programmes and apprenticeship schemes. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for: Developing EC&I maintenance routines in conjunction with equipment suppliers. Ensuring systems comply with regulations, standards, and procedures. Providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams. Managing workload and providing progress updates. Conducting plant walkdowns. Witnessing EC&I testing. Assisting with loop checking, documentation checking, plant commissioning and startup. Reporting to the management team on causes of failures and recommendations for remedies. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a network of engineering subject matter expertise across Oxide Fuels to ensure the business has the required competencies that can be efficiently accessed. A wide array of cutting-edge systems is employed here in Oxide Fuels manufacturing, including automated pellet presses, high temperature sintering furnaces, robotic product handling, automated centreless grinding, and high-performance liquid filtration systems. Qualifications: Experience as lead E, C & I Engineer preferably in a material and component processing setting with that experience in a COMAH regulated industrial environment, leading and delivering E, C & I maintenance engineering. 5 years’ experience working in a relevant engineering field. A strong foundation in electrical and automation (including electrical wiring regulations BS7671) engineering principles and a passion for innovation. HND/BSc or equivalent Electrical or Control & Instrument Engineering. Ideally completed indentured Control & Instrumentation Apprenticeship. Demonstrate knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511 & SIL levels). Have effective communication skills and be customer focused. Able to manage uncertain and complex situations. Energetic, enthusiastic with a drive to develop and further their career. Engineering and Operating experience working in High Hazard Chemicals Industry, with consequent knowledge of topics such as ATEX/DSEAR and Functional Safety. (desirable) Associate or Chartered member of relevant institution e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology. (desirable) Experience of the application of detailed problem solving to resolve complex problems. Knowledge and practical application of continuous improvement methods are a requirement.
