Learning Disabilities and Autism Lead Nurse

to join our growing Safeguarding team and shape the future of our service at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC).

This is your chance to be a visible and impactful leader across both Birmingham Women's Hospital (BWH) and Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH). As the Lead Nurse for Learning Disabilities and Autism (LDA), you'll bring your expertise and innovative ideas to drive forward the LDA strategy, supporting our multidisciplinary teams in delivering exceptional, inclusive care for our patients with learning disabilities and/or autism. Our team is passionate about working towards accreditations in the future.

To provide professional nursing leadership through a strong visible clinical presence within the Learning Disabilities Liaison team and across BWC, to enhance midwifery and nursing practice and the provision of a safe, effective, and high-quality care environment for children, young people, and their family and carers.

You will have a passion for leading and influencing continuous improvement methodologies to enhance our approach to supporting learning disabilities and autistic patients. This role will work collaboratively with senior management, including the Associate Director for Safeguarding and Learning Disabilities and Heads of Nursing & Midwifery for inpatient and community services across our hospitals.

Minimum Requirements:

A qualified nurse with current clinical and leadership experience of working with patients with learning disabilities and autism. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support and empower the nurses in the LDA team, ensuring a compassionate, safe, and inclusive environment for our patients. An evidence-based approach to delivering high-quality care, with expert skills in supporting and advocating for individuals with learning disabilities and autism. Experience of driving change and shaping service improvements.
