Homes and Communities Job Purpose: To ensure Trident Group maximises its income through the effective collection of rent, service charges and other income owed to it by customers working supportively and proactively with the aim to sustain tenancies. Key Results Areas: To ensure that all rent accounts are monitored regularly and provide a customer focused service to Trident customers ensuring they are aware of their responsibility to pay their rent on time and regularly, and to advise on preventative action to be taken to stop them falling into arrears. To carry out home visits or virtual face to face contact in connection with income recovery or arrears prevention. To work alongside the Income Management Manager and other relevant officers across the Group to coordinate a response to the Government’s Welfare Reform agenda ensuring policies and procedures are amended to reflect legislative and regulatory changes and effective systems are created to collect relevant data and measure the impact of welfare reform. To liaise with Housing Benefit departments and the Department of Work and Pensions to encourage prompt and accurate payment of claims, and speedy resolution of problems. To investigate and pass for payment Housing Benefit overpayment requests. To attend Housing Benefit and Court user group meetings as directed by the Team Manager. To work in partnership with external agencies to ensure that Trident Group is delivering a responsive service and maximising income recovery. To assist in the development of computerised monitoring, processing and data collection. To keep abreast of current legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice. To carry out other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the post, as directed by the Income Manager Manager and Head of Housing and Support. Key Requirements: Maximisation of Income Collection. Reduce current and prevent former tenant arrears. Consistent and timely review of Key Performance Indicators, targets and benchmark. Create a supportive and participative environment within team and cross functionally. Regular contact with key internal and external customers. Attend team meetings and/or meetings necessary for fulfilment of role. Promote, develop and monitor the requirements of Equality and Diversity. Maintain all aspects of confidentiality in accordance with GDPR. Person Specification: Experience: 2 -3 years of working in a social housing environment. 2-3 years experience of working in income recovery. Experience of preparing court papers and presenting cases at County Court. Education: 5 GCSE’s or equivalent to include maths and English or other relevant professional qualifications. Knowledge & Skills: Good understanding of social housing issues. A demonstrable knowledge of best practice in income management and debt collection. A demonstrable knowledge of Housing and Welfare Benefits. Computer literate understanding of spreadsheets and ability to use various software packages. A working knowledge of legislation and the regulatory requirements relevant to the department. Understanding of health and safety responsibilities, including lone working. Clean driving licence with access to a vehicle. Competencies: The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to be accurate and methodical. To have strong coaching and mentoring skills. Please
