Are you ready to bring stories to life through your exceptional filmmaking skills? At UAL, we're on the lookout for a Videographer to join our brand-new, dynamic team. This is your chance to shape how we capture and share the creativity and impact of one of the world's leading universities for art and design.

As part of a small, in-house team working across all UAL colleges and institutes for the first time, you'll play a pivotal role in producing visually stunning, award-worthy content. From pre-production to the final edit, your technical expertise in camera operating, lighting and sound recording will shine as you craft films that resonate with diverse audiences.

You'll be responsible for planning, capturing, and editing video content that aligns with UAL's brand and messaging. This will include:

Leading shoots with a professional approach to camera operating, directing, lighting, and sound recording. Handling post-production, from editing footage, colour grading and sound mixing to collaborating on motion graphics and animation. Working with the Content Team to develop concepts and treatments that tell powerful stories. About You

Filmmaking mastery: You're technically proficient and detail-oriented, with hands-on expertise in cameras, lighting, sound recording, and post-production. A natural storyteller: You can develop compelling narratives, crafting treatments and shaping visual arcs that connect with audiences. Creative innovator: You bring fresh ideas and thrive on pushing boundaries to deliver exceptional video content. Collaborative spirit: You enjoy working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to turn creative concepts into reality. As part of your application, we would like you to submit a portfolio of your film work.

From your application portfolio we are looking to get a sense of your style, and also the breadth of your experience. We will be assessing your competency against four key criteria: editing, camera operating, lighting, sound.

Editing:

Demonstrates a strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and technical proficiency with editing software to create varied, polished and engaging content. Camera Operating:

Shows skill in framing, composition, and movement, with an understanding of visual storytelling and maintaining technical quality. Lighting:

Reflects an ability to create mood, depth, and clarity in scenes, with a clear understanding of how to shape light to enhance visuals. Sound:

Highlights expertise in capturing clear, high-quality audio and integrating it seamlessly into the production to enhance the overall experience. Submission Requirements:

Portfolio Content:

Provide a link to an online portfolio containing up to 10 clips, totalling a maximum of 15 minutes. Clips can be arranged as you prefer (e.g., 10 x 90-second clips or fewer, longer clips). Supporting Document:

Include a document that explains the context of each clip and your role in the project.

Example:

- Project Name: Music video - Camera Operator and Editor - Project Name: Interview - Gaffer

Submission Format:

Submit your portfolio via a link to an online folder (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive). Title the folder: "UAL Videographer - Application Portfolio" (do not include your name in the folder title to ensure anonymity). Ensure folder viewing permissions are set to allow access to anyone with the link. Important Notes:
