Overview: To support in the home with personal care and domiciliary tasks, medication management and wound dressings, admin, ordering PPE, communicating with health professionals, collecting prescriptions and shopping. Start date as soon as possible. About Me: PC is a gentleman in his late 50’s who requires support with all aspects of day-to-day living. He is a considerate and patient man who is looking for someone who is hard working, a fast learner, honest, organised and efficient. PC has a good sense of humour and hopes to find a PA who has the same! He has complex health issues, including cancer, which are managed by his GP and other medical professionals; more information to be provided at interview. You will need to support his primary PA with personal care, wound management and domestic support. Ideally, you will have a nursing or healthcare background. PC needs support keeping on top of his hospital appointments, personal care, cleaning, taking medication and wellbeing. This typically includes: Medication management Wound dressings Support with admin A car owner and driver would be preferred due to heavy and bulky medications. Expectations: You should be prepared to carry out all reasonable tasks specified by me. I expect you to understand the role in facilitating my needs by asking what these needs are and listening to my requests. Please respect my possessions and use any equipment only with our permission. Please let me know when you have concerns for my health and wellbeing. Keep me up to date with changes in your health that may affect my health, wellbeing, safety, and happiness. You must have high standards of personal hygiene as the client is still shielding. Must have full COVID and flu vaccines as client is immunosuppressed. Must be willing to wear full PPE, to be provided, including face mask, when carrying out personal care. Training: You should be prepared to undergo training, to meet the requirements of the job description or to improve your skills. The current PA will be able to provide training on how to support the client adequately. Supervision and Induction: This will be provided by your employer. You will be expected to keep the lines of communication open, as dialogue between us is constructive and helpful to all parties. Any worries that you have must be reported to me immediately. I will also arrange for regular supervision meetings, but you are also expected to work under your own initiative. Confidentiality: You must respect my privacy and that of my family and friends. You must maintain a professional approach and not divulge any information gained during your employment, such as health condition, finances or personal circumstances, except with express permission. Essential & Desirable Characteristics: EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS Essential - Basic education Excellent verbal and written English Desirable - Certificates in Food Hygiene, Moving and Handling, Basic Health and Safety, First Aid. NVQ in Care Nursing or Healthcare qualification Knowledge of medication management EXPERIENCE Essential - Experience with assisting someone with washing and dressing Desirable - Previous care related experience SKILLS Essential - Patience and being able to explain things simply and calmly. Understanding of Employer needs. Problem solving and organisational skills. Listening skills Able to work on own initiative Able to anticipate problems Desirable - Taking responsibility for problems as they arise PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Essential - Able to carry, lift, push and bend CIRCUMSTANCES & INTERESTS Essential - Punctual, dependable and reliable.
