As a Principal Sustainability Consultant, you will be at the forefront of advancing Workiva’s Carbon solution in EMEA, a cutting-edge platform designed to simplify and enhance carbon accounting, ESG reporting, and sustainability management. This newly created role will establish you as a subject-matter expert, driving product innovation, supporting strategic initiatives, and positioning Workiva Carbon as the premier solution for carbon accounting and emission reduction strategies. You will lead client and partner engagements, leveraging your expertise in sustainability to achieve impactful outcomes and scale Workiva’s ESG capabilities.

What You'll Do

Carbon Solution Strategy & Leadership

Champion the development of scalable frameworks, methodologies, and best practices for Workiva’s Carbon solution, ensuring seamless adoption for clients and partners. Collaborate with product, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to shape the future of Workiva Carbon, aligning it with market demands, customer needs, and industry trends. Drive the expansion and innovation of Workiva Carbon by providing actionable insights into emerging carbon accounting standards, technologies, and frameworks. Expert Guidance in Carbon Accounting

Guide enterprise clients through their sustainability journey, including the implementation of carbon accounting programs compliant with Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Develop and support clients in emission reduction initiatives, ensuring alignment with frameworks such as SBTi, CDP, GRI, SASB, and TCFD, within the context of EMEA and the EU. Deliver expertise in advanced sustainability practices, including corporate GHG inventory development, lifecycle assessment, and environmental footprinting. Client Enablement & Success

Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing innovative solutions to manage emissions data, report on progress, and meet regulatory and voluntary ESG disclosure requirements. Create and deliver impactful training programs for clients and partners to maximize the use of Workiva Carbon in driving measurable sustainability outcomes. Partnership Development

Collaborate with strategic partners to co-develop sustainability programs and ensure the successful implementation of Workiva Carbon. Act as a thought leader within the ESG community, representing Workiva in industry forums and collaborating with stakeholders to advance global sustainability goals. Innovation & Growth

Analyze client and partner feedback to identify opportunities for enhancing Workiva Carbon’s capabilities in data integration, reporting automation, and predictive analytics. Lead efforts to integrate cutting-edge tools and techniques into the platform, such as AI-driven carbon reduction modeling and dynamic goal tracking. What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of experience in sustainability consulting, carbon accounting, or a related ESG field. Advanced expertise in GHG emissions accounting, including Scope 1, 2, and 3, with hands-on experience in tools and frameworks like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, SBTi, and CDP. Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated success in scaling carbon accounting programs for diverse organizations, from Fortune 500 companies to startups. A deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within carbon accounting and corporate sustainability. A track record of success in advancing product capabilities to align with evolving ESG reporting requirements. Thought leadership within the sustainability and carbon management industry. Proficiency in configuring SaaS platforms for sustainability reporting and data integration. Expertise in environmental impact analysis, including product life cycle assessments and water footprinting. Strong project management skills, with experience delivering complex ESG initiatives on time and within scope. Fluency in advanced data tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and financial modeling techniques (e.g., ROI, IRR). Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to engage with C-level stakeholders. Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
