Education Manager IN SHORT MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a creative Maths Lecturer to join the team based at HMP Belmarsh. As a Maths Lecturer, you will be actively engaging prison-based learners with creative classes and resources. Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful Maths Teacher, you will truly inspire them and provide learners with a positive learning experience. This role will involve outreach work outside of the main classroom setting. You will be connecting with learners in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to achieve success through not only qualifications, but developing the confidence and softer skills that they can apply to employment as well as other areas of education. We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consists of 8 learners and the sessions are approximately 3 hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative. Many prisoners are also facing very long sentences and helping prisoners learn to flourish whilst incarcerated is also important to the Education department. The department is keen to have a diverse workforce and encourages applicants from all parts of the community. Many people who join us have not worked in prisons before. Having a teacher qualification or experience in enabling people to learn can be an advantage. However, it is also possible to gain teaching qualifications whilst working at Belmarsh. The prison is on excellent public transport routes. A secure bicycle shed and showering facilities are available on site, as is car parking.
