Within Cardiology we have expanded our Heart Attack Unit and Cardiac Day ward resulting in additional Advanced Practitioners posts.

We are seeking experienced band 6 (trainee post) or Band 7 nurse. The successful candidates will work on a rota and cover Cardiology ward areas clerking and discharging patients, cannulation, phlebotomy, prescribing, active ward round participant and working in collaboration with Consultants in outpatient clinics.

Successful candidates will be expected to compose electronic discharge amongst other extended roles affiliated with the four pillars of advanced practice.

Experience in the role and a completed nurse prescribers course.

We have a very well established Nurse Practitioners service currently with sixteen members of staff in post but are looking to further develop and expand our current team.

The post holders work long days and cover weekends but do not cover night duties so if you are looking for a new and exciting challenge as well as a new development to your existing nursing practice please apply.

Main duties of the job

The advanced clinical practitioner is an experienced registered healthcare professional with specialist skills to assess and treat patients and manage the clinical environment, in collaboration with the management and consultant team. The advanced clinical practitioner will act as an autonomous practitioner in forming clinical decisions and complex management plans in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of patients. In conjunction with other senior healthcare professionals in the team formulate the development of clinical guidance for all aspects of clinical practice. The ANP (ACP) will join an existing team of established practitioners. The post holder will work across directorate and professional boundaries, encouraging inter-disciplinary working for the benefit of improved patient outcomes and efficient use of resources. The trainee post holder will be working towards a non-medical independent prescriber qualification and will take over roles previously undertaken by junior medical staff.

Recent & Significant post registration nursing experience of caring for patients with cardiac disease. Excellent Understanding and experience in recognition of cardiac emergencies. Knowledge of related government guidance and policy
