This post is 20 hours per week Mon-Fri 5pm-9pm. The post holder will be expected to be flexible to cover annual leave and sickness, including weekend work. The Hygiene Supervisor will assist and support the Manager/leadership Team in providing a professional and effective cleaning service by supervising and supporting Hygiene staff in day-to-day requirements and being responsible for the various functions of the department. Ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to and assisting with the day-to-day running of the hygiene service. The post holder will need to assist the leadership team in achieving the operational goals and help support the implementation of new systems and ways of working. Main duties of the job

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day assistances and all various functions of the service. Responsible for creating and planning staff rotas in conjunction with the management team, ensuring they are always reflective of the service. Includes monitoring the allocation of annual leave entitlement, ensuring service levels are always maintained. The post holder must be able to support front-line staff in times of shortfall in staffing levels and ensure a fair distribution of workload. Maintain accurate staff sickness records, including fit-to-work notes, occupational health referrals required on request of the line Manager, and completing quality staff RTWs as per the policy, ensuring highly complex information is recorded accurately on all systems. Directly responsible for the band 2 hygiene assistants' performance, setting objectives and agreed personal development plans. Ensure their performance is monitored in line with Trust policies (Robust Mandatory Training/other training records). About us

Assist the management team and provide structure & support to staff. Responsible for all equipment ensuring that the appropriate safety checks are carried out as required, identifying any training gaps within the team and providing refresher training annually, and identifying any health and safety issues and reporting to the management team. Encourage staff to report issues and utilise our safety systems for a safe working environment. Provide feedback to staff around any issues/concerns raised. Carry out expected role without the need for constant supervision and direction, although recognising limitations and seeking supervision where necessary. The Post holder must have great communication skills. The post holder will assist in rolling out new tools and electronic programs to enable a more efficient way of working. Responsible for the implementation of new policies and new standards of practice to support service development. The post holder must develop, motivate and provide leadership to all hygiene staff. Assist the leadership team in the monitoring of Staff Health and wellbeing. Person Specification

Skills & Abilities

Good organisational skills. Ability to engage and communicate with different disciplines of staff within a variety of settings. Support and develop staff. Operates within infection control procedures, responsible for managing hygiene services. Able to work with guidance, rather than supervision. Can deliver on-the-job training to staff. Qualifications & Education

Vocational level 3 qualification or equivalent. Values & Behaviours

Safe. Knowledge & Experience

Requires 2 years' experience as a team leader/supervisor within any organisation. Experience of using different IT systems: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office. Knowledge of compiling rotas and use of electronic systems. Able to work with guidance, rather than supervision, planning own work. Previous NHS experience. Requires 12 months experience performing cleaning duties and has an excellent understanding of standards. Evidence of own continuous learning & development. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
