The opportunity Due to projects ramping up, our client is currently looking to expand their team and is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer. This role provides the opportunity to be client-facing as well as involved in the day-to-day design of projects. It is an exciting opportunity for a design engineer to further develop their career within a leading building design consultancy. Your duties and responsibilities will include: Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Designing and specifying all Mechanical Building Services systems - heating, cooling, hot and cold water systems, ventilation, controls, etc. Knowledge of Low Pressure/High Pressure Air, Demin Water, Nitrogen, Local Exhaust Ventilation, Diesel Fuel Supply is not essential but useful. Carrying out detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools including Excel, IES, Hevacomp, and in-house developed tools. Preparing technical specifications using NBS. Collaborating with our BIM team to prepare models and drawings, with a working understanding of Autodesk Revit (experience of Microstation & AECOsim is beneficial). This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, providing hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. You will have the following qualifications and experience: Familiarity with the principles of building physics such as passive design solutions and fabric-first approaches. Competence in designing for measurement and verification, including experience of commissioning and post-installation evaluation of performance. Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards. Able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way. Degree qualified or equivalent qualification. Get in touch now!
