Senior Legal Counsel Join Aon's legal team as Senior Legal Counsel working with our business colleagues in delivering Aon's services to our clients. We are on the lookout for a qualified lawyer with strong commercial contracting skills for advising our business colleagues on relationship expansions and new product launches within Aon's Wealth Solutions business. Experience working in a regulated environment such as wealth/asset management or investment advisory services, or in the provision of pension-related services, is helpful but not essential. This is a hybrid role giving you the flexibility to spend time working both from the office and from home. With Aon Law teams based in London and Manchester, we encourage candidates with the ability to access either of these office locations. Aon is in the business of better decisions At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed. What the day will look like When our business colleagues are looking to take on new clients, expand relationships with existing clients or launch a new product or service, they contact the Aon Law Department for advice on how to manage any associated legal risks effectively. As a senior member of the legal team, your responsibilities and opportunities will include: Support to the business in respect of commercial transaction and strategic agreements. Project work relating to the establishment of new products and services, including advising the business, committees, and the Board. Drafting and negotiation of standard form documentation such as consulting agreements, administration agreements, and investment management agreements, as well as bespoke documentation to facilitate the delivery of the new products and services. Working with internal compliance, risk, and data privacy functions and external legal counsel in order to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and Aon policies. Working with key business stakeholders at all levels of the Aon organisation. Opportunities to join networks of Aon lawyers around the globe engaging with senior business stakeholders to deliver on common goals as one team. How this opportunity is different As Senior Legal Counsel, you will receive strong support from your teammates, working with highly esteemed professionals in our Aon Law Department, while gaining exposure to diverse areas of our business groups. You'll work on some of the most significant contracts in the industry, providing valuable experience and opportunities for career growth. Skills and experience that will lead to success: Qualification to practice as a lawyer (whether in the UK or abroad). Degree-level qualification or equivalent. Experience working as an in-house lawyer. Strong commercial contracting experience (drafting, review, and negotiation), with emphasis on client-facing supply agreements. Experience balancing corporate risk with commercial awareness and opportunity. Remarkable ability to draft and negotiate with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and the ability to gain the confidence of seniors and peers in your team and within the businesses you work for, and you are comfortable communicating by email, telephone, and video-conference. The ability to manage your time effectively, juggle multiple tasks and clients, prioritize, and to be flexible when priorities need to change. Enthusiasm for working as part of a team of lawyers and in collaboration with business colleagues towards a common goal. Willingness to learn about new areas of work and a logical and enquiring approach to new challenges. You might have: Experience working as a lawyer in private practice and/or managing relationships with external counsel when working in-house. Experience working in a regulated investment environment such as asset management and/or investment advisory, or pensions. Experience managing other team members and/or supervising the work of more junior colleagues. Projects, transactional, or execution management experience. Experience working on contracts for strategic partnerships/collaboration agreements. Experience working alongside colleagues in "off-shore" centers of excellence. How we support our colleagues In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce. Plus, our agile, inclusive environment allows you to manage your wellbeing and work/life balance, ensuring you can be your best self at Aon. Furthermore, all colleagues enjoy two "Global Wellbeing Days" each year, encouraging you to take time to focus on yourself. We offer a variety of working style solutions, but we also recognize that flexibility goes beyond just the place of work... and we are all for it. We call this Smart Working! Our continuous learning culture inspires and equips you to learn, share, and grow, helping you achieve your fullest potential. As a result, at Aon, you are more connected, more relevant, and more valued. Aon values an innovative, diverse workplace where all colleagues feel empowered to be their authentic selves. Aon is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. Aon provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran, marital, domestic partner status, or other legally protected status.
