The products we build are changing the face of public services with the potential to dramatically transform the future of millions of people.
We're looking for driven and passionate Senior DevOps Engineers who would like to be part of teams delivering real value to people that need help during the difficult times of their lives.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a technical leader with opportunities to develop capabilities and further improve standards and practices across the organisation. You may have some team or line management responsibility for less experienced DevOps Engineers.
You will contribute to our community ensuring that DWP and our DevOps practices evolve in line with technology advances.
16 million people in the UK have a health condition or disability. Our development teams at DWP Digital - Health and Disability build secure solutions that transform and enable responsive services for people with disabilities and health conditions to access the help, advice, and financial support they need.
The Cloud infrastructure team within Health and Disability is a platform and enabling team based primarily at Newcastle and Leeds hubs, with specialist skills that centrally develop and maintain a secure, scalable, and flexible application platform and a data & analytics platform to meet the needs of our development teams, colleagues, and citizens.
We do this to reduce cognitive load on individual Health development teams to allow those teams to reclaim time and energy that can be spent on developing great products and services.
Please note this role requires you to pass Security Check clearance. For further information, please see 'Selection process details'.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be using modern tooling to develop CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains, striving to put automation at the heart of everything you do.
Your initial focus will center on our Azure data platform. However, you will be crafting, implementing, and enabling solutions across both application and data platforms that are highly available, resilient, scalable, extensible, and maintainable within multiple cloud environments.
Working across the organisation, you will be pushing a mindset change to foster engineering ownership and the importance of the integrity and maintenance of the services we deliver.
Other responsibilities will include working across product-focused teams to gather requirements, evaluate tools, implement/update solutions, provision environments, and assist with operational issues.
As part of the role, you will be required to travel regularly to the other digital hubs, specifically Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where the DevOps team is based. The frequency of this will be discussed further should you be successful.
