SALARY : Competitive HOURS : 37 ½ hours per wk – Mon – Thurs 0815 – 1700/ Fri 0815 – 1245 About the role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Development Engineering Technician to join a team of engineers and technicians who specialise in a range of disciplines within the R&D department. As a technician, you will be responsible for hands-on activities that contribute towards the development of prototype systems and/or system capability improvements, utilising a range of different technologies and techniques, to meet or develop business strategies. The position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong technical background, making it essential for supporting our engineering team. Your contributions will directly impact the success of our projects and the overall goals of the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are passionate about engineering and are looking to advance their careers in a fast-paced and innovative environment. Main Responsibilities: Understanding and implementing design concepts and approaches Effectively communicating and contributing towards departmental activities, with a particular focus on innovation Conducting the build and maintenance of electrical, mechanical and electronic apparatus Contributing to the design of prototype systems and test equipment Gaining a strong understanding of equipment and process to aid in the fault-finding and snagging of equipment and systems Ownership of delegated activities including regular and timely reporting on tasks and any issues Working to rigid timescales to ensure trials and test activities are facilitated Working with fellow technicians and wider team to ensure laboratory planning is considered and workspace is tidy, and that tools and equipment are maintained as necessary Contributing towards requirements, interfaces and validation specifications and engineering reports as necessary in the course of work activities Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role About the person: To be a successful candidate for this role you must be able to demonstrate the below attributes and skillsets: Qualifications/ Education: Qualified to HNC/ D/ Degree in Engineering or in a relevant discipline Apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience in hands-on engineering, manufacturing or maintenance discipline Technical Skills/ Experience: Demonstrable competence and aptitude in: Mechanical fitting Wiring and Cable Assembly Fault Finding Personal Attributes/ Person Specification: Hard working and driven Strong team player A fresh and innovative approach to problem solving Strong analytical skills Full Driving Licence to drive in the UK and abroad Valid passport with no travel restrictions Electrical Installation Qualifications (i.e. 18th Edition) How to apply: If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and be a part of a company that values your skills and contributions, we encourage you to apply for our Development Engineering Technician role today by emailing your CV and contact details – remembering to include the role you are applying for – to our Talent Acquisition Manager at recruitment@msi-dsl.com About our benefits: Pension – 3.5% E’r / min 3.5% E’ee (salary sacrifice if you want to contribute more) Compressed working hours Monday – Thursday 0815 – 1700/ Friday 0815 – 1245 **Half day Fridays** 5 days/ 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (this will be pro-rata’d) **Fridays is a half day holiday** Christmas Shutdown **this will be taken out of the holiday allocation** Westfield Health Cash plan, gym discount and shopping rewards
