The Post To assist the Repairs and Maintenance Operations in the smooth delivery of a quality customer-focused service. The successful applicant would be skilled to assist in carrying out roofing repairs to flat and pitched roofs. Ideally, the candidate will demonstrate a primary trade background to ensure the experience will assist in ensuring a quality and efficient delivery; multi-trade experience would be an advantage. The candidate will ensure that they are organised to carry out multiple calls per day as directed by the Operations team, ensuring we are carrying out an efficient service within the service level agreements. Flexibility In order to work effectively in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post holder. This may involve taking on other tasks and/or changing the location of the base. These will be within the same level of responsibility and terms and conditions of employment. Main Responsibilities Day-to-day management of workload. Ensure that all works are carried out safely and to an excellent quality standard. Updating PDA devices with work schedules and other key information as required. Maintain our corporate image and service standards. Communicate with residents face-to-face. Address tenant issues and complaints effectively. Ensure compliance with all necessary regulations, standards, and legal responsibilities relating to repair work and contractor compliance. Maintain a quality right first-time fix service. Manage stock within the van to minimise non-working time and manage larger material requirements. Ensure effective and proactive delivery of service. Maintain and deliver any documentation required to agreed standards and timescales. Work as an integral team member and mentor/coach to apprentices. Make decisions using specialist experience. Support and manage the delivery of health and safety policy and standards. Assist in identifying cost reduction opportunities. Participate in the out-of-hours on-call system as required by the service. Other Responsibilities Contribute to the successful delivery of the full range of functions of the Surveying team, both in the absence of and alongside members of the surveying team. Person Specification The successful candidate should meet the following requirements: Knowledge and Experience Experience within the responsive maintenance environment. At least 1 year of experience in roofing. Experience in other multi-building trades is advantageous. Ability to operate a PDA device. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent planning and organisational skills. Basic understanding of schedule of rates. Ability to communicate with management. Personal Attributes and Skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with discretion. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines. Understanding and ability to show tact and discretion when dealing with the public. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Flexibility and willingness to work outside normal office hours if necessary.
