We're looking for an experienced Cost Manager to work within the programme management function, working across a number of projects, technologies and activities in support of MTC clients within the defence sector. Main Responsibilities: Developing and managing project budgets and forecasts. Monitoring costs and expenses. Highlighting variances and challenging discrepancies to ensure budgets stay within contractual constraints. Working in collaboration with Project teams to provide cost-related insights and support throughout the project lifecycle. Using historical data and trend analysis to review and interpret cost information for effective decision making by leadership. Manage subcontract cost data and applications for payment as part of the project cost structure. Submit applications for payment to the customer in line with customer deadlines. Create forecasts to submit to the customer in line with customer deadlines. Create and submit any cost applications associated with additional work that has been requested by the customer. Create and maintain the schedule of cost components (SCC) for NEC contracts. Submit weekly reports to the customer (hours and timesheets). Create and maintain monthly commercial reports for the customer. Monitor and identify issues with the booking-to-payment value chain, including delayed invoicing, application for payment peer reviews. Act as the point of contact for queries from the customer’s QS and Cost engineers, resolving them through to response, where appropriate with the relevant member of the project team. Consolidate and check the ‘Rolling Forecast’ for internal reporting requirements across the various projects and areas of the Sector. Provide cost-related insights and support to the Sector leadership and project teams throughout their project lifecycles. Support with the creation of internal cost estimates for bid/future work. Person Specification Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience Knowledge of NEC4, standard form of contract. Experience within complex projects environment. Experience and a working understanding of delivering projects in an engineering/professional services environment. An experienced MS Office user. An articulate and effective communicator able to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the business. A natural investigatory nature with strong analytical skills. Results driven self-starter with a positive CAN-DO approach focusing on solutions rather than problems. Ability to remain calm, positive and constructive under pressure. Great attention to detail. Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience Knowledge of NEC4, standard form of contract. Current or previous holder of national security clearance. Experience or knowledge of document management and processes within a project environment. Experienced with Power BI including development of reports. Ability to identify opportunities for maintaining and updating performance standards. Willingness to contribute to continuous improvement activities related to area of responsibility.
