Main duties of the job
Within this role, you will support the delivery of a specialist stroke rehabilitation service and form part of the larger Stroke Pathway within the Medicine Division of Adult Therapy Services at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston.
The successful applicant will hold their own caseload with support from Team Leads, work closely with the stroke multi-disciplinary team, and mentor junior colleagues.
As part of your role with the stroke-sub acute rehab unit at Weston General Hospital, you'll have the opportunity to assess and treat general acute medical patients to maintain breadth of skills and knowledge, and you will build relationships within new teams with unique benefits such as:

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential
Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy & HCPC registered.
Desirable
Evidence of post-graduate training in Stroke, Neurology & General Medicine. Member of a professional body or group relevant to the post. Leadership Qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
Clinical knowledge of Stroke, Neurology and General Medical pathologies. Experience of working with Stroke, Neurology and General Medical patients. Completed a broad variety of rotations as a Band 5/Band 6. Experience of working alongside and delegating to therapy support staff. Experience of contributing to the clinical education and development of less experienced staff, students or therapy technicians. Awareness of current NHS and Health Guidelines relating to Stroke & Neurological care.
Desirable
Experience of deputising for senior colleagues.

Able to organise and prioritise own caseload and daily workload in an acute hospital setting. Able to delegate effectively to others. Able to demonstrate effective team working skills. Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a way that is consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background & preferred method of communication. Demonstrate ability to supervise others and support the development of others. Sufficient IT skills to navigate successfully through hospital computer systems.
