Lead the Nursing team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe person-centred Nursing care. Manage the ward and admission area on a regular basis including managing the flow of patients through the wards. Support the manager in recruitment, retention, and performance of staff and students. Assist with budget control, including safe allocation of staff and sickness management. Adhere to trust policies, procedures, and professional code of conduct. Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

Use leadership skills to supervise and manage others, contribute to planning, designing, delivering, and improving future services. Lead the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care with the multidisciplinary team. Deliver safe person-centred care, including the effective management of beds/trollies in the ward and admission area. Ensure staff skill mix remains at a safe level, including the use of electronic rostering and monitoring systems. Monitor patients on the virtual ward pathway, including clinical input at daily meetings. Support the day one telephone follow-up of daycase patients and those discharged under the ambulatory arthroplasty pathway. Administer medication and treatment within the Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing, and Administration of Medical Guidelines. Participate in mentorship and educational programmes for students and other team members. Comply with relevant risk management strategies and processes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join the team on one of our Trauma Wards at Gloucester Hospital. The area predominantly caters for patients admitted with fractured neck of femur surgery and other trauma patients.
