Chair (HealthTech Committees)

·
Full time
Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on healthcare innovation? The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is seeking two dynamic and visionary leaders for the position of Chair of two of our HealthTech Committees (Diagnostics and Interventional Procedures). These pivotal roles offer a unique opportunity to influence the future of health technology evaluation, ensuring cutting-edge innovations deliver value and improve lives across the UK.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced leader with a track record of chairing national or high profile multi-professional committees or working groups. As Chair, you will lead highly skilled multidisciplinary committees, driving the development of guidance on innovative procedures or diagnostic technologies. Your role will involve facilitating collaborative discussions, ensuring evidence-based decision-making, and championing equality and diversity throughout the guidance development process. With a strong clinical background in healthcare, and excellent communication and leadership skills, you’ll shape the adoption of technologies that transform patient outcomes while representing the values of transparency and excellence that underpin NICE’s work.

We Are Advertising Two Roles:

Chair of the HealthTech Interventional Procedures Advisory Committee Chair of the HealthTech Diagnostics Advisory Committee The chair ensures that the committee takes full account of the evidence in developing recommendations and considers the analysis and interpretation of the evidence prepared by the evidence review team.

While all committee members must ensure appropriate consideration of the implications of guidance for equality, this is a particular responsibility for the chair.

The chair should also offer committee members feedback and comment on their contribution to the committee, on an annual basis, for revalidation purposes or personal development.

The chairs of advisory committees are in a special position in relation to the work of their committee and have greater scope to influence the outcome of discussions. The chair helps the committee to work collaboratively, ensures a balanced contribution from all committee members and takes decisions about the potential conflicts of interest of their committee members.

Before you consider applying for the role of chair, please ensure you read the conflicts of interest section of this document and refer to NICE’s policy on declaring and managing interests for NICE advisory committees.

Anyone whose interests prevent them from chairing a committee may instead like to consider applying for a committee member role.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health in the United Kingdom. It provides national guidance and advice to improve health and social care. Working for NICE offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of evidence-based guidelines and quality standards that shape healthcare practices and policies. Employees at NICE are part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, engaging with experts across various fields to enhance health outcomes and ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

You will be working with the HealthTech team within the Centre for Health Technology Evaluation.
