Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join our Orthopaedic Therapy Team. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in elective and trauma orthopaedic rehabilitation and will actively seek opportunities to support the development of the service. The provision of clinical education for students from surrounding universities will be expected. The Orthopaedic Physiotherapist will play a key role across a seven-day service, with opportunities to work with in-patients, community outreach, and outpatients. We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic and motivated, with strong clinical, communication, organizational, and time management skills, who will support the driving force to change and innovate service development within our Orthopaedic Therapy service. The successful candidate will primarily be based at Ormskirk Hospital; however, they will have opportunities to work within our multi-specialty areas. Main duties of the job

To record and report findings appropriately following the standard procedures used by the department to maintain high levels of written/verbal communication. To share skills/knowledge with other disciplines and patient/carers as necessary. To liaise with hospital/community-based staff as appropriate to ensure continuity of treatment and provision of equipment/adaptations to facilitate hospital discharge/prevent re-admission and support resettlement/re-enablement into the community. Excellent communication skills, ability to share information at MDT case conference experience, able to deal with conflict resolution. Ability to work autonomously and independently with MDT. Awareness of up-to-date NHS issues, Clinical Governance, and its application with therapy. Ability to manage change in a flexible, diplomatic, and positive manner. Maintain own clinical role and be aware of boundaries with other professionals. Wide range of good clinical reasoning skills, assessment and treatment skills, able to problem-solve and make decisions. The post includes a combination of complex physical activities with duties being carried out in a variety of settings across the clinical sites. The post holder will be required to work across sites including hospital/community settings. To be able to carry out moving and handling with patients using equipment e.g., hoists, or use of specialist medical devices related to specialism. The post holder will be required to use frequent concentration in assessing patients and devising care plans during the day. Conveying complex information in a comprehensible and practical way to clients, families, and carers where there may be significant barriers to understanding. Prioritizing clinical work responding to unpredictable demands on time e.g., responding to bleeps for urgent referrals. The post holder will often have to overcome barriers to communication such as illiteracy, learning difficulties, hearing and sight impairment, language, and may have to work with interpreters. Communication with and have direct contact with a wide variety of people, including health, social care, and education professionals, patients, carers, and the public. Daily involvement with chronically and terminally ill patients and their carers. The post holder will be exposed to sensitive, emotional, and distressing circumstances, including terminally ill patients and abusive patients/carers. The post holder will be exposed to the working conditions associated with a clinical environment. Routinely encounters unpleasant smells and sights, with possible exposure to bodily fluids including blood and sputum. Ability to fulfill the travel requirements of the post.
