An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the progressive and innovative Health & Justice teams within Tees Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) NHS Foundation Trust. We are searching for a committed and enthusiastic psychology graduate, preferably with some experience of working in secure mental health/prison settings, to join the Mental Health team at HMP Deerbolt. The Mental Health team is committed to delivering high quality care to patients in prison. The model of service delivery aims to provide timely, evidence-based and accessible mental health assessment and treatment to meet the needs of prisoners. The post within the mental health teams provide a fantastic opportunity to develop clinically whilst based within an enthusiastic and supportive team. Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be Higher Assistant Psychologist (HAP) and will join multidisciplinary health team, working alongside members of prison operational staff. Tasks will include, although not exhaustive of, assessment of mental health of the male residents within the prison, psychometric scoring and interpretation, facilitation of small treatment-focused groups, individual intervention, audit, staff training and report writing. Experience of delivering evidenced based therapies, i.e. CBT and DBT either individually or within a group setting would be desirable. The successful post-holder will have good communication and interpersonal skills, and preferably will have some experience of risk management in prison or forensic settings. Qualifications

Psychology degree Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent) Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice, youth work, work with offenders and/or research design and analysis Experience

Experience working as a psychology assistant (or equivalent) Experience working with people with mental ill health or learning disabilities (paid or voluntary) Previous involvement in clinical audit, research or service evaluation. Experience using statistical software packages e.g. SPSS Experience of using psychometric assessments Knowledge

An understanding of the application of psychology to health care. Knowledge of the British Psychological Society Code of Conduct. Understanding of confidentiality An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities Disclosure and Barring Service Check
