Job Description:

The Bid Engineer will provide a high level of technical expertise in the development of complex engineering bids. This role ensures that designs are commercially viable, can be delivered within agreed timeframes, and are fit for purpose. The Bid Engineer will ensure that engineering solutions proposed in bids meet Finning’s quality standards, best practices, and customer requirements, developed in consultation with relevant stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Develop and prepare complex engineering bids, ensuring they are commercially viable and meet customer requirements. Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide technical expertise. Collaborate with CAT and external suppliers to ensure the best solutions are proposed. Work within the Bid Team to provide engineering input into bid development. Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to develop specifications that satisfy customer requirements and optimize project profitability. Provide Programme Management and Planning functions with proposed plans and schedules to devise deliverable project schedules, including resources and budget. Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Comprehensive knowledge of the power generation business, both theoretical and practical. Skills in electro/mechanical design and installation of power products. Experience translating knowledge into practical solutions. Knowledge of legislation within the power sector, particularly in 3-phase low and medium voltages. Practical knowledge of power generation control systems and their interactions. Desired knowledge of gas and diesel feed and control systems and related legislation. Ability to create compelling cases for premium market products and translate them into persuasive documents. High degree of commercial understanding, with the ability to identify opportunities and risks. Strong communicator, collaborator and team worker.
