Here at Serco we’re looking for a Prison Finance Officer to join us at HMP Thameside based in London. The postholder will work to maintain all prisoner finance administrative tasks within specified timescales daily for HMP Thameside. Key Accountabilities To ensure all prisoners’ valuables are received, properly documented, and securely kept. To ensure all prisoners’ cash are safely received, and accurately processed on to the CMS. To ensure cash on arrival transactions posted are supported by physical cash received. To identify discrepancies in cash received and resolve any variations. To ensure that all monies transferred into Thameside and out from Thameside, are properly accounted on CNOMIS, and values accurately transferred to CMS. To ensure that all cheques for prisoners transferred from other prisons, are received, reconciled, securely stored, and promptly banked. To chase outstanding cheque payments for prisoners’ monies transferred from other prisons. To discharge all prisoners accounts, for transferred prisoners. To transfer on CNOMIS money discharged from CMS. To issue cheques supporting all transfers out from CMS to CNOMIS. To verify all money/Cheques/Postal orders received from the Post room. To collect and count all operational cash - Coffee shop and Kitchen and prepare for banking. To ensure all money received for prisoners, are speedily and accurately posted on to the prisoners’ account on CMS. To post all transactions regarding funds transferred by Secured Payment Services. (Money for prisoners received via online to be manually inputted onto prisoner’s accounts daily) To identify transfers, discharges, and court attendees as per CNOMIS, and prepare money and valuables for the following day. To ensure that CMS is reconciled daily with the Prisoners Trust Cash Till. To ensure all cash transactions are recorded in the Prisoners’ Trust Cash Book. To process all cash disbursements cleared and received by security and approved by the Director. Answer and investigate all Prisoners Complaints and Correspondence in a professional and timely manner. SAR – Subject Access Requests to be actioned and returned to QA in a timely manner. Ensure prisoners daily wages have been submitted and paid by 12pm daily. Facilitate the issuing of prisoner’s monies to Reception staff for daily discharges and releases as per prisoners’ transaction statement. Record all transactions of discharges and releases in the Prisoners Trust book. To facilitate banking service, including cash handling and preparation of related documents. What you’ll need to do the role Demonstrates an understanding of business and customer focused requirements. Strong time management skills and able to prioritise work to meet operational requirements. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Approachable, positive and solutions-focused attitude demonstrating a strong ability to develop and maintain excellent professional relationships. Always works with honesty and integrity. Strong interpersonal skills. Commitment to working effectively in a socially diverse environment. Minimum grade C Maths and English GCSE. This role is subject to Security Clearance.
