Life as a Data Scientist at City Electrical Factors:
As a Data Scientist at City IT, you’ll be at the forefront of data-driven decision-making, shaping commercial strategies and optimising operational efficiency.
You will work in a collaborative environment, influencing key stakeholders and applying advanced machine learning techniques to solve real-world business challenges. You will be expected to explore large datasets, apply advanced machine learning techniques, and translate complex findings into actionable business recommendations.

Your Objectives:
Collaborate with Stakeholders:
Engage with business stakeholders to educate and demonstrate the impact of data-driven decision-making. Develop and Implement Solutions:
Build and deploy machine learning solutions to address key business challenges and improve operational efficiency. Communicate Complex Insights:
Present statistical concepts and findings in an accessible way to non-technical audiences, driving data-informed decision-making. Drive Business Impact:
Leverage data science to recommend and implement innovative solutions that deliver tangible commercial value. Contribute High-Quality Code:
Write robust Python code and contribute to packages that benefit the broader data science and analytical community. Key Skills and Experience: Proven track record in a data science role with experience in model development and business optimisation. Proficiency in designing and implementing algorithms and data structures in Python for data science applications. Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including data access, management, version control tools, reproducibility, and interpretability. Proficiency with visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau, and the ability to convey insights through compelling data narratives. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams. Beneficial Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Physics, Econometrics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Demonstrated expertise in solving problems using machine learning, either academically (with relevant publications) or commercially. Deep understanding of probability distributions, statistical significance, hypothesis testing, and regression. Experience working with cloud-based data solutions. Knowledge of Algorithms and Frameworks. SQL Proficiency: Skilled in building end-to-end data pipelines and combining data from multiple sources. Location: Whilst this role is predominantly home based, you must be willing to travel to Durham and other UK sites as and when required. Interview Process: Call with Talent Acquisition.
