Job responsibilities
We are looking for a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a passion for delivering outstanding care to join our New Service - Cygnet Hospital Oldbury.
The service will feature two wards: a 12-bed PICU ward and a 15-bed Acute ward. Cygnet Hospital Oldbury will have a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and will support the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.

Your day-to-day at Cygnet Hospital Oldbury: Closely monitor patient health issues such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, COPD, minor injuries, and illnesses. Carry out ECGs. Carry out Metabolic Syndrome monitoring. Co-ordinate with GP surgery for routine reviews: cervical smear screening, breast cancer screening, annual chronic health review, etc. Liaise with relevant health professionals e.g. dietician, optician, chiropodist, etc. Liaise with pharmacists and contribute to the medicines management committee. Support mental health nursing staff in managing minor injuries and wound care management. Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. Consult and coordinate with Multidisciplinary team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Promote physical health and well-being to the service users. Train staff to perform observation of vitals, perform read ECG, venepuncture. Provide health clinic sessions for the service users.
You:
As an experienced NMC Registered General Nurse with a current PIN number, you'll have:
Essential: RGN with experience of working in a GP surgery. The ability to maintain documentation, undertake audits & demonstrate integrity in your role. A good understanding of the latest nursing practices. A commitment to patient recovery in order to effectively monitor, manage & reduce risk. Compassion, resilience & a dedication to empower & support service user independence.
